Team Effort To Help Vulnerable Gains Praise.

Cotswold District Council has successfully made contact with thousands of Clinically Extremely Vulnerable local residents.

The council checked in with these vulnerable residents to see how they were coping during the lockdown.

The residents contacted were those deemed to be at heightened risk of Covid 19 and shielding as a result.

This “Council Calling” campaign saw council staff, as well as elected councillors, making thousands of telephone calls as they sought to establish contact with 3,850 residents across the district.

The aim was to check on their welfare and to see if they needed any assistance.

Cllr Jenny Forde, district council cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said “We set out to contact all of our residents that are deemed to be clinically extremely vulnerable because it is essential that no-one is left isolated or without support.

“This has been a considerable task. Making contact means that we have kept on calling and calling until we have spoken to every one of them.

“We have actually spoken to or corresponded via email or SMS text with almost 4,000 people.

“I’m really proud of the efforts our team has made.”
