Sky’s The Limit For “Classic” New Show

A new show coming to Corinium Radio promises music with a classical twist.

On Tuesday 6th April @ 7.00pm Andrew Hodges (Corinium Radio’s Composer In Residence) returns  with his show “Cloud Classics”.

“Cloud Classics with Andrew Hodges” focuses on music from every century, including this one.

“Cloud Classics” looks at music through a ‘different lens’.  It’s about music performed with a distinct CLASSICAL TWIST; a mixture of the best classical music and music from the best local Cotswold musicians.

Andrew’s show will feature music created during the current lockdown. Because musicians cannot rehearse at the moment they’ve had to go both ‘live & virtual’. You can see more of this on Andrew’s website – Take a look at all the great virtual videos they’ve created whilst they’ve been forced to be apart.

So Andrew returns on Tuesday 6th April @ 7.00pm with his first show, followed by repeats on Sunday 11th at

7pm and Tuesday 20th & Sunday 25th at 7 pm.

Andrew’s first show asks the question “What do composers & musicians do during pandemics?”  We take a look at the 1918 Spanish Flu epidemic, at what Stravinsky and Prokovief were doing when their musical events were cancelled, and compare their circumstances with what musicians have done during the current Covid crisis.

As a sneak preview have a look at this video – this is Enio Morrecone’s “Nella Fantasia” from the film “The Mission” in an arrangement by Andrew performed by the Cloud Ensemble with local Gloucester soprano Miriam Simpson-Moran.
