Meet A Founding Father of Celtic Rock

Nick Brook has something really special for Corinium Radio listeners on Monday November 9th.

Nick’s Retro 33 1/3rd Show has been planned as a Folk Rock Special.

And the great thing is that Nick is pleased to welcome special guest Charles O’Connor to the show, who talks about his time with Horslips and his new solo album The Shell.

Horslips are an Irish Celtic rock band that composed, arranged and performed songs frequently inspired by traditional Irish airs, jigs and reels. The group are regarded as ‘founding fathers of Celtic rock’ for their fusion of traditional Irish music with rock music. They went on to inspire many local and international acts.

They also recorded 10 studio albums and 4 live albums.

Charles O’Connor, played concertina, mandolin, fiddle and both electric and slide guitar. He also shared the main vocal tasks with Barry Devlin and Johnny Fean.

Nick’s show goes out at 5pm on Monday and can also be picked up on our Listen Again service.
