Hospital Sees Return Of Emergency Department

Cheltenham General Hospital’s accident and emergency department has started its comeback.

Clinicians are welcoming the public back to the town’s A&E department as part of a two-step plan to restore services as we emerge from the pandemic.

The consultant-led emergency department has re-opened seven days a week between 8am and 8pm. The service will remain closed overnight until the overnight nurse-led service re-opens at 8pm on Wednesday 30th June.

This means that from 1st July Cheltenham A&E will be returned to its pre-pandemic state.

A statement from Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said, “The temporary changes to A&E at Cheltenham  were introduced last summer as part of the hospitals’ response to the pandemic, which enabled the Trust to continue life-saving cancer surgery amongst other vital services.”
