Can you help support town’s phone box plan?

Corinium Radio is urging Cirencester folk to heed the call to back a local community project.

Your own community radio station is “backing the box” – the red heritage telephone box crowdfunding appeal that is!

We’ve dipped into our pockets and made a cash pledge to help the project along.

And with just a few days of the appeal left we are urging local folk to do the same.

We think it’s a great idea which backs heritage while adding an exciting future community asset to Cirencester.

Cirencester Town Council has the chance to relocate and refurbish an unused and decommissioned telephone box.

This is seen as an exciting opportunity to incorporate a piece of much-loved heritage into the town’s Market Place.

The council has launched a crowdfunding initiative to fund the project so please take a look at and pledge cash if you can.

Ideas for the future use of the phone box include, in the summer, a selfie destination for locals and tourists, incorporating information promoting such things as our incredible history, independent shops and inspirational events, as well as awareness of climate issues.

In the winter months it could be used to meet local needs, such as a food bank, incorporating information about how to find shelter and access mental health and well-being support.

As we said earlier, we here at Corinium Radio think this is a great idea and urge everyone across the Cotswolds to “get behind the box”!
