Cirencester Author Lends A Helping Hand In Japan

Corinium Radio introduces a remarkable local author who has been helping to re-build Japanese Communities.

Presenter Sheila Lloyd-Graham has interviewed Caroline Pover for her show Lady She and Friends.

Author Caroline has just released her latest book entitled One Month in Tohoku: An Englishwoman’s Memoir on Life After the Japanese Tsunami.

She lives in Cirencester and as well as writing, runs a pickled onion and chutney business,

Caroline has a strong connection with Japan, where she lived for 15 years, and returns for at least a month every year

She says “I go to Oshika-hanto, which is a remote peninsula in the North East of Japan and was very badly affected by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami.

“I have raised almost £170,000 for the fishing communities on the peninsula and have managed over thirty projects there to help these communities rebuild”.
