Sheer Isolation Podcast with Chris Davey (25/10/20)

At Sheer Isolation we’re continuing to give a voice to the highly-skilled crew who work in the shadows of the performance industry. This week we’re talking to jet-setting lighting engineer, Chris Davey.

He was rigging stages in Vietnam and Los Angeles when Covid started to spread around the globe. Thankfully he got back to his home in Somerset in time for UK’s lockdown, but unfortunately hasn’t set up a stage since.

Chris tells us about what life is like on the road, what’s been happening this year, and we consider what the next few years are going to look like for students about to enter into the job market for specialised technical roles.

Music for this week is provided by James Morrison, chosen by Chris as he was part of James’ touring team for most of last year. We also pick something from the local archives courtesy of songwriter Ben Maggs
